Coretta Bridges Music Journey
Coretta Bridges, stage name Coretta B., was born in Lincoln Park, Michigan and was raised in River Rouge, MI. She was born into a musically inclined family, her great uncle, the late Tommie Lemons a professional pianist on King Records.
At age 11, Coretta B. began singing the sermonic solo for her pastor John R. Gordy, the first cousin to Berry Gordy. She sang in high school talent shows as well. By the time Coretta B. was 16 years old, she was singing as a guest soloist in Church of God In Christ (COGIC) churches in the Metropolitan Detroit area.
After singing in the church until her late 30's, Coretta B. began recording R&B and Jazz in 2009. As a BMI artist, songwriter and publisher of Muzik and Lyriks Publishing Company, she has recorded over 50 original songs.
In 2010, Coretta B. released her CD titled JOURNEY. It is jazz flavoured with such timeless songs as Cherish The Moment. She released SIMPLY ME in 2012, an unplugged project with soothing vocals. In 2013, she released REVELATION, a sassy R&B flavoured project. In 2014, Coretta B. released ARTISTIC AWAKENING, which is a combination of Jazz and R&B. She released IT'S YOUR DAY in 2016, a fusion of Jazz, R&B and Pop. In December of 2017, Coretta B. released a compilation CD. She went on hiatus from recording until September of 2023 when she released the single Let Love Breathe featuring Eddie Payne. The song is a launch to another CD, which is currently in progress.
